In a significant move towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable energy, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has initiated a pilot study on vehicles utilizing E27 fuel and Ethanol Blended Diesel Fuel.

As announced by HPCL, the E20 fuel was successfully launched at 23 retail outlets across the country on February 6th, 2023. The introduction of ethanol blended fuels has already led to a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, with approximately 3000 MT of GHG emissions reduced to date.

Ethanol is made from biomass and boasts a higher octane number than gasoline, making it an attractive alternative for powering vehicles.

As the world continues to grapple with the challenges posed by climate change, India's proactive approach towards adopting environmentally friendly energy sources is a beacon of hope.
