Karnataka, known as the economic powerhouse of India, is facing a potential threat to its status. In a recent tweet by Priyank Kharge, it was emphasized that the state needs the support of the Central Government to maintain its position. The government's role in providing a level playing field to all states could make or break Karnataka's economic future.

According to Kharge, one way for Karnataka to stay ahead is through the establishment of a multi-service SEZ like Gujarat International Finance Tech-City. This initiative would require support from the Central Government, which has been instrumental in similar projects in other states. For instance, it had supported the development of semiconductor manufacturing facilities in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.

However, Kharge also drew attention to past instances where Karnataka missed out on significant investments due to lack of support. He cited examples such as Vedanta-Foxconn's semiconductor facility in Gujarat, Ola's EV manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu, and Tata's phone component manufacturing facility in the same state. These projects collectively worth ₹14,000 crore were lost opportunities for Karnataka.

The tweet serves as a reminder that a level playing field is essential for states like Karnataka to attract investments and grow their economies. The Central Government's role in supporting or hindering these efforts will have far-reaching consequences for the state's economic future.
