India's coal production has witnessed a significant growth in June 2024, with a provisional output of 84.63 million tonnes (MT). This marks a remarkable increase of 14.49% compared to the same period last year, which stood at 73.92 MT.
Coal India Limited (CIL), the country's largest coal producer, has also recorded impressive growth in June 2024. The company achieved a production of 63.10 MT, registering an 8.87% increase from the previous year's output of 57.96 MT.
The impressive coal production in June 2024 can be attributed to various factors, including increased investments in the sector and government initiatives aimed at boosting domestic coal production.
As the country continues to grapple with energy security concerns, the growth in coal production is a welcome development. However, it remains to be seen whether this trend can be sustained in the long term and what measures the government will take to ensure a sustainable supply of coal.
