The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has recognized a staggering 1,40,803 entities as startups, according to a recent tweet by PIB India. This remarkable figure is a testament to the country's thriving startup ecosystem.

Since the launch of the Startup India initiative in 2016, DPIIT-recognised startups have created over 15.53 lakh direct jobs as on June 30th, 2024.

The impressive growth figures are not limited to job creation alone. A significant proportion of these startups have at least one woman director, with a total of 67,499 DPIIT-recognised start-ups having women at the helm.

India's startup ecosystem has been gaining momentum over the years, driven by government initiatives, innovative ideas, and entrepreneurial spirit. The country's young population, coupled with its growing middle class, presents a vast market potential for startups to tap into.
