In a bid to combat the growing menace of drug abuse, India has strengthened its system to control the drug trade. Home Minister Amit Shah has taken the lead in fortifying the mechanism to tackle this issue effectively. A 4-tiered NCORD (National Coordination Centre for Organised Crime and Drug Trafficking) mechanism and an NCORD portal have been launched to synergize efforts and streamline the process.

The new mechanism is expected to bring all stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, on a single platform to share intelligence and coordinate their actions. This move aims to disrupt the supply chain of drugs and ultimately reduce their availability in the market. The initiative is seen as a significant step towards creating a drug-free Bharat, a goal that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set for the nation.

The launch of the NCORD portal will enable stakeholders to access real-time information and track drug trafficking patterns more effectively. This will help identify areas where drugs are being smuggled in and take targeted measures to prevent their entry into the country.

As India continues to grapple with the issue of drug abuse, the government's efforts to strengthen its system to control the drug trade are a welcome move. With the new mechanism and portal in place, it remains to be seen how effective they will be in curbing the flow of drugs into the country.
