In a shocking turn of events, Pune Police have arrested the head of the forensics department at Sassoon Hospital and a doctor from the same hospital for allegedly tampering with evidence in connection with the deadly Porsche crash case that occurred on May 19. The arrests come after an investigation revealed that the blood samples of the minor accused of driving the Porsche under the influence of alcohol were switched with those of another person who had not consumed alcohol.

According to Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Dr. Shrihari Halnor, the head of the Forensic Medicine department at Sassoon Hospital, was arrested last night after revealing that he had changed the blood sample on the directions of Dr. Ajay Taware, the HOD of Forensic Medicine. The forensic report initially showed no alcohol in the minor's blood sample, raising suspicions.

The investigation found that the original blood sample of the minor was disposed of in a dustbin and replaced with another sample. DNA tests confirmed that the samples were from two different individuals, leading investigators to suspect that the doctors at Sassoon Hospital had tampered with the evidence to protect the accused juvenile.

This shocking revelation has raised questions about the integrity of the investigation and the handling of the case. The Pune Crime Branch took the minor's father, Vishal Agarwal, into custody on Monday after a court allowed it, adding new charges under sections of forgery, criminal conspiracy, and destruction of evidence against him.

Agarwal is currently lodged in central jail. The Porsche crash case has been marred by controversy since its inception, with allegations of preferential treatment and underworld connections surrounding the accused's family.

The minor was initially granted bail but later remanded to an observation home until June 5 following public outcry. His father, grandfather, and driver were also arrested in connection with the case.

The families of the two IT professionals who lost their lives in the crash have demanded a Supreme Court-monitored probe and trial, citing concerns over the handling of the case.

The Pune Police Commissioner has assured that the case is under section 304, culpable homicide not amounting to murder, and the accused juvenile was in full knowledge that his act could endanger lives, so no alcohol traces in his blood sample do not affect the case anyway.

The arrests of the forensic department head and doctor have sent shockwaves through the community, raising questions about the integrity of the investigation and the handling of the case. The Pune Police Commissioner has assured that the investigation is ongoing and more charges may be added as new evidence emerges.
