At least 55 people, including 13 policemen, have lost their lives in a series of violent clashes between protesters and law-enforcement agencies in Dhaka and other parts of the country. The clashes have left hundreds more injured, with reports suggesting that the situation is still volatile.

The government has responded to the crisis by imposing an indefinite curfew from 6 pm today onwards in Dhaka and other affected areas. Additionally, a three-day public holiday has been declared on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to ensure public safety.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held an emergency meeting with her National Committee on Security Affairs at her residence Ganobhaban this morning to discuss the situation.

The violence has also had a significant impact on communication services in the country. Mobile internet services have been shut down, with only 2G services available for making calls.
